How it works
A round is a time-boxed contest. Everyone trades the same markets with the same starting capital, and at the end return decides the ranking.
Balance and stake
After signing up you have 500 chips. Chips are play money. They cannot be bought, deposited or withdrawn. If you drop below 100 chips, you are topped back up to 100 once a day so no one is locked out for good.
A round’s stake depends only on its duration, not on the number of players. It is locked when you take your seat in a round and sits in a separate escrow account until settlement.

When a round starts
A round starts the moment the lobby is full. If it only reaches two thirds of the seats (4 of 5, 7 of 10), a 1-minute timer starts it with whoever is there, or a 5-minute timer for the long day- and week-long rounds, so no round is left hanging on one last missing player. (A 1v1 is full at 2, so it starts right away.)
The payout is based on how many players actually took part. If a ten-player round starts with seven, the pot of seven stakes is split among the top two. Nobody wins money that was never put in.
Alternatively you can create your own round. It gets an invite code and starts once it is full or when the creator starts it manually, which is possible from two participants.
How the pot is split
Roughly the top third of the field gets paid. The rest lose their stake.

The platform keeps 5 percent of the total pot, the rest is split by rank. This fee is the only point at which the platform takes part in a round. In the current play-money version no real money is involved.
Trading and settlement
Capital and prices
Within a round everyone starts with the same trading capital. Trading happens at the same 1-second price snapshot for everyone. Every trade, whether opening, adding or closing, fills at that snapshot price, with no spread and no fees. Only your performance counts.
Long and short
You can trade in both directions with leverage you pick per position, up to 100× in one-minute rounds and down to 3× in week-long crypto rounds. Margin is cross, so your whole account backs every position. If your account value falls below the maintenance margin of 0.1 percent of your position value, roughly a 9.9 percent loss at 10× leverage, you are liquidated, your positions close and you are out of the round. If only one trader is left standing, the round ends early. Limit, stop and take-profit orders rest on the server and fill at the same snapshot price, and their lines can be dragged in the chart.
The close
At the close, all open positions are closed automatically and valued at the price that applied at that moment. The result therefore does not depend on when someone opens the page. If no verifiable price exists for that moment, the round is voided and all stakes are returned.
Scoring
Placement comes from your portfolio value at the close. Your season return decides your league and division on the leaderboard. Every result also moves your Elo rating, the head-to-head score shown alongside it.
Frequently asked
Is RingSide gambling?
No. RingSide is a game of skill. The result comes from your trading decisions, not from chance. There is no real money involved, no deposits, no withdrawals and no payout in money. The chips have no monetary value.
Can I win or lose real money?
No. Every round is played with virtual chips that cannot be bought, deposited or withdrawn. Real-money rounds are not available today. If that ever changes, we will say so clearly and it will not switch on quietly.
What are the chips worth?
Nothing in money. They are the in-game balance. You start with 500 chips, and if you drop below 100 you are topped back up to 100 once a day, so you are never locked out for good.
How is a round decided?
Everyone in a round starts with the same trading capital and trades the same live prices. At the close, your portfolio value decides your placement and the pot of stakes is split by rank. Roughly the top third of the field gets paid.
Can I play with friends?
Yes. You can create your own round with an invite code and start it once at least two people have joined. It is the simplest way to play a specific person or a group.
What can I trade, and with leverage?
Real, live crypto and gold prices. You can go long or short with leverage you pick per position, up to 100× in one-minute rounds and down to 3× in week-long crypto rounds. Margin is cross, and falling below the maintenance margin of 0.1 percent of your position value liquidates you out of the round.
Is it free?
Yes. Signing up is free, needs no payment details, and gives you a starting balance of chips right away.
